I wonder how accurate this article is…!!
Good news for all you sci-fi geeks out there! Stunning siren Karen Gillan has admitted that she wants to settle down with a ‘Doctor Who’ fan.
The single actress – who plays the Time Lord’s assistant Amy Pond in the BBC One sci-fi show – is on the look-out for a guy but as well as being smart and funny, he has to love the BBC hit show.
She said: “What I look for in a guy is a sense of humour, that’s very important he’s got to make me laugh. He probably has to be smarter than me so he can tell me stuff and I can learn, dashing good looks.
“He doesn’t have to like ‘Doctor Who’, but I’d probably have a bit of a problem with it if he didn’t like it. Yeah he has to like ‘Doctor Who’!”
Karen is unsure if her fame puts potential love interests off her, but admits she regularly gets called “Amy” and is often stopped by fans of the TV series when she is out and about.
She added: “I always get called Amy when I’m out. People will say, ‘Amy?’ It happens all the time but I like it, I like the name Amy, I don’t like my name.
“I don’t have to wear a disguise yet, but I find that people don’t really recognise me when I’m out and don’t have any make-up on.”
Karen was back in Cardiff last night, for the switch on of their Christmas Lights – alongside Doctor Who co-stars Matt Smith and Arthur Darvill. Whilst the boys kept warm with their winter coats, Karen braved the cold wearing a beautiful gold brocade dress!
Some MQ pictures have been added to the gallery – unfortunately some are agency tagged, but we aim to replace with HQ’s as soon as possible!

I’ve managed to get hold of some HQ images from the HMV Signing – these are now in the gallery. Apologies for the tags on the images – it has come to my attention that other sites are taking from our gallery without crediting, so we’ve done this to hopefully prevent this – I tried to make the tags as un-intrusive as possible!
I also added a image of Karen with Matt and Fearne Cotton, at Radio 1. Thanks to Blogtor Who for this picture!
Oh, and we have a very pretty new layout coming soon, made by the wonderful Mycah at Purple Haze Inc!

An interesting article…
The lead role in a film about Scotland’s most notorious witch will hopefully be played by Doctor Who’s, Karen Gillan, if screenwriter, David Ness has his way.
Ness who lives in Nairn, has worked with some of Hollywood’s biggest names and has had his most recent screenplay about Scottish witch, Isobel Gowdie snapped up by a production company.
Ness, who is also a lecturer in sociology, philosophy and English literature at the University of the Highlands and Islands, was inspired by Gowdie, who was tried for witchcraft in 1662. The confession that she gave is considered to provide the most detailed insight into European witchcraft folklore.
In the film, Ness intends use the 17th century story as the basis for a contemporary tale of a young girl who is distressed by the loss of her mother. The character is haunted by a woman from the time of Isobel Gowdie’s life, therefore providing a link back to the original story.
Ness said: “I live close to where the events of 1662 took place and have been fascinated with the story of Gowdie for years. It’s one of these legendary stories that has persisted through the years.
“Many of the modern witchcraft clichés can be traced back to Isobel Gowdie, including broomsticks and covens. And the influence of her confessions can be seen in many places, from Sir Walter Scott through the Burns’ Tam O’Shanter.
“I have also always loved the song about her by The Sensational Alex Harvey Band.”
He has his sights set on Karen Gillan, famous for her role as the Doctor’s assistant in the BBC’s Doctor Who series, for the lead role but hopes he can convince fellow Nairn resident and Oscar winner, Tilda Swinton to also be involved.
He said: “There is also a part for Tilda if she says yes. It is very much at the early stages of production and no dates have been set as yet.”
However, Gillan and Swinton are not the only big names to be associated with this blossoming project.
Ness said: “Brian Cox, Douglas Henshall, John Hannah and Michelle Gomez have all expressed an interest.”
Very very jealous of you lucky Cardiff folk!!
